The pilot project in Santander Bus Station is the result of the application of the full methodological process, encompassing the work from all the work packages of the project. From the initial evaluation (using the on-line tool produced by the second workgroup), the previous diagnosis, the building of the digital 3D model (TIPEE), over which the thermal studies have been carried out (CARBONE 64), the proposition of alternatives to increase efficiency, to finally the execution of the works in the station.

The pilot project has been affected by general refurbishment works, executed by the Regional Government, that have modified the initial distribution of spaces and elements, causing a remarkable impact on the scheduled actions, once the digital model had been already built. As a result, energy efficiency actions have been carried out only in the underground floors (platforms and commercial area) in a much more limited scale. In addition to the aforementioned actions, a new monitoring system has been developed. The system will permit an accurate assessment of indicators related to air quality or travelers comfort, replicating the systems installed in Cartagena and Torrelavega.
